Online Marketing

Online marketing is similar to marketing in the offline world.

Just like in regular marketing, you still have to talk to your customer, still have to target your advertising to your audience, and still have to have the product for sale that the customer wants to buy. You have to have everything that an offline marketer needs.

But online, people are in a hurry. They want to consult a search engine before they find you, so you have to optimize your site for the search engines. If they stumble onto your web site, they may land on your home page, but they're more likely to land on some interior page linked directly from the search engine.

Regardless of where they land, you have several seconds, rarely more, to convince the premature clickster (Speedy to her friends) to pull up a chair and read for a spell. If it's not blindingly obvious that you have what the clickster wants, she is out of there faster than you can say "At Online_Marketplace.com, we're all about ... <click> ... you."

Online Copy Must Be Tight

Your online copy must be meticulously organized, laser focused and tighter than Speedy's grip on her wallet.

Ms. Clickster won't actually read what's written on your page. She'll quickly scan it and then instinctively decide whether or not to <click> away to the next site.

If you want to catch Ms. Clickster and sell her something, you better hire someone who understands the nature of the online world and can write to its (and your) strengths.
